About the Project

We are developing one of the world’s first commercial scale floating offshore wind projects, bringing huge economic benefits to Aberdeenshire, Scotland and the whole of the UK that will last for decades, improving our energy security, and supporting governments’ ambition to be a world leader in floating offshore wind and a clean energy superpower.

Muir Mhòr will create a significant number of jobs, specifically during its construction, and operation and maintenance phases, and we are committed to building a supply chain that will contribute millions of pounds to the local and wider Scottish and UK economies.

As part of our Supply Chain Development Statement commitments, we are actively involved in developing the skills of the Scottish offshore wind workforce at all levels, starting from school age.

Our floating offshore wind farm will be located off the east coast of Scotland, approximately 63km from the coast of Peterhead. Once operational, it will be able to generate up to 1GW of power, enough to provide electricity for the equivalent of up to 1.2 million homes every year.

Muir Mhòr can play a significant role in helping to meet the expected doubling in demand for electricity by 2050 as the UK decarbonises its energy supplies. It can also help the UK capitalise on its first mover advantage in creating a new global industry in floating offshore wind.
